Community Involvement & Recognitions

Since moving to Elko County in 1991, David has been actively involved in many organizations to help enhance the opportunities for both our community and our youth. He has had the opportunity to serve as a long time member of the Elko County Library Board, a leader with the Boy Scouts of America, a Rotarian, and a referee for all Elko County High Schools.

Community Positions Held:

  • Two time District Chairman for the Overland District for the Boy Scouts of America
  • Past Board Member and Chairman of United Way of the Great Basin
  • Past President and Current Member of the Desert Sunrise Rotary Club
  • Past Board Member and Chairman of the Northeast Nevada Development Authority (NENDA)
  • Worked with youth sports with both my sons, Austin and Travis: Assisted Coaching in Jr and Sr Football Leagues, Manager and Coach for Ruby Mountain Little League from T-ball through Majors, Assistant Coach for Babe Ruth League, Head Coach for AAU Basketball, Assisted coaching and an occasional referee for PAL Basketball, and has been and is currently a referee for all Elko County High Schools for football and basketball.

  • District Award of Merit for Outstanding Service to Youth in 2006 for Overland
    District in the Nevada Area Council
  • Silver Beaver Award for Distinguished Service to Youth in 2007 from the National Council of the Boy Scouts of America
  • Completed Wood Badge Adult Leadership Training Course in 1999 for the Nevada Area Council
  • Eight year staff member (2000-2007) for Wood Badge Adult Leadership Training Course
  • Chosen as Course Director for Wood Badge Adult Leadership Training Course
